Introducing MEMOIR MONDAYS!
A new Facebook feature this year is the introduction of MEMOIR MONDAYS. Every Monday during 2022, we are posting an excerpt from the memoir of Rebecca May Manchester Cressey, a Windham woman born in 1909. Each week, we get a little glimpse into Reba Mae’s (as she liked to be called) life in the early days of the 20th century. The memoir is full of interesting stories and anecdotes that tell the tale of life in those simpler times when there was no running water or indoor toilets, when you bought ice for your icebox from the iceman, and used kerosene lamps to light your home. The yarn is rich in Windham history that will fascinate you. Join in on this unique Facebook journey and have some fun with history!
Reba Mae Manchester Cressey was born in the old Manchester homestead back in 1909.
It is circa 1888; the people are: Almon sitting on the hay rake by the barn, Seward standing by the horse, Nahum and Lydia seated by the tree with Everett standing behind, Ida (Seward's wife) and Alice standing in front of the house with Warren, barely visible sitting in the grass at Ida's feet.
