The Windham Historical Society is happy to present our June program. We are hosting WMTW Channel 8 meteorologist Sarah Long on June at at for a discussion about winter weather.
Sarah is a wealth of knowledge when it comes to living and working in some of the “worst” weather in the world as her first job after earning here degree in meteorology was at 6,288 feet. She worked and lived at the Mount Washington Observatory on the summit of the mountain.
Since leaving the Observatory in the early 2000s, Sarah has been forecasting on air in Maine, most recently at WMTW. This seems fitting since she would visit the Channel 8 transmitting building regularly while working on Mount Washington.
The program will have Sarah sharing her tales about living and working in some of the “worst” weather in the world and how the Mount Washington Observatory data is a critical part of broadcasting in New England.
Always searching for winter weather, Sarah recently took a trip to the Antarctica Peninsula and will share some of the sights and stories from her trip of a lifetime.
The program is offered free of charge. Light refreshments will be served.
Donations are welcome.
